In a recent couple of years, the active development of lower limb orthotic devices mainly targets on individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) or stroke. However, due to a smaller population and lack of support from the community, there is a group of minorities in the society suffered from poliomyelitis who cannot benefit from these new technologies. They have unique gait pattern and rehabilitative needs which is very different from those with stroke or spinal cord injuries.
